Over the past 16 years, Playgroup Coordinator Charlene O’Connell has transformed how Thom Westfield Infant Toddler Services connects with local families. Joining the team in 2010, Charlene has steadily expanded our program to 29 playgroup options across multiple communities. Her innovative partnerships reach across the region and include:
- High School Mentorship: In collaboration with the Hampshire Regional School District, she established weekly playgroups in the Hilltown communities while mentoring high school students interested in Early Childhood Education careers.
- Childcare Center Support: She facilitates in-house playgroups at two local childcare centers, guiding staff in classroom management, behavior strategies, and engaging play activities.
- Specialized Activities: In partnership with a neighboring gymnastics and aquatics center, she has introduced unique caregiver-and-child classes focused on swim, music, and movement.
