Thom Child and Family Services Seeks Director of Information Technology

About the position:

Thom seeks an experienced and strategic leader to join our team in Natick, Massachusetts, as our Director of Information Technology. This is a senior leadership position, reporting directly to the agency’s Executive Director. Our team is mission driven; a commitment to supporting our agency’s work with children, families, and community partners is a top priority for all potential candidates. The ideal candidate has experience navigating the intersection of business needs, human needs, and technology solutions. Successful candidates will also be excited at the prospect of working at an entrepreneurial non-profit with its own proprietary software. In addition to supporting Thom’s business, we also offer this software as a SaaS to other agencies.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Position:

IT Infrastructure Leadership

  • Work with agency leadership to define and oversee an IT strategic plan and vision that aligns technology solutions with agency’s priorities and needs
  • Provide project management to the next phase of rollout for our completely revised billing software, Thom Biller
  • Oversee the agency’s coordination and integration with the Massachusetts Early Intervention Client System (EICS)
  • Understand the role of both HIPAA and FERPA in our work, our systems and data security needs
  • Engage with stakeholders and lead ad-hoc workgroups to understand current and upcoming needs as well as to better understand long-term technology needs; help identify solutions and project plan implementation
  • Work closely with the agency’s managed IT consultants for both immediate and long-term needs including IT continuity and emergency/recovery plans
  • Manage all IT vendors, including reviewing terms and conditions of contracts and ensuring contractual requirements are met and returning value to the organization

Management and Leadership

  • Maintain a culture of continuous learning and collaboration
  • Support Thom’s in-house software developers with technology-minded project planning
  • Support success of agency’s operations by understanding staff and business needs
  • Communicate with Thom’s Board of Directors as needed, including delivering presentations and updates on IT strategy, projects, and timelines
  • Appreciate the constraints of working in the nonprofit sector

Tactical Responses and Problem-Solving:

  • Learn daily tasks and needs of the clinical workforce and analyze current processes versus various alternatives; understand that this learning requires spending time at each program site across the state
  • Recognize the ongoing support needs of the 10 program sites; work with IT consultants and senior leadership team to develop a sustainable support protocol for community-based workforce and program sites
  • Support the integration of various systems and/or research alternatives for the integration of various systems to promote efficiency across all agency operations

Qualifications:

  • Educational background, at least at the undergraduate level, in computer science, information technology, software engineering, project management, or business management
  • 5-7 years of relevant leadership and information technology experience and a proven track record of managing IT operations within large and/or multi-site environments;
  • Hands on experience with network and server administration and user support
  • Experience working in a nonprofit and/or health care environment is strongly preferred
