Meet the Staff

Thom Worcester Area Early Intervention is in the business of helping children and their families achieve their goals. We recognize that our success depends on the skills and experience of the people who work for us. Thom Worcester Area employs nearly 50 full and part-time staff members: therapists, teachers, nurses and social workers, many of whom have provided early intervention services in the Worcester area for over 15 years. The staff members of Thom Worcester Area are proud of their tradition of providing high quality EI services to the community.

Meet some of our dedicated staff:

Jeannine is a registered nurse with a bachelors degree in nursing.  She has been on staff at our Worcester program for 6 years.  Jeannine's experiences prior to her time in early intervention include a total of ten years at the UMass Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the NICU at Schneider's Children's Hospital in Long Island.  Jeannine's NICU experiences have prepared her well to support parents of premature or otherwise medically involved babies. Jeannine is generous with her knowledge and dedicated in her efforts to guide parents through their child's first years of life which are crucial to development.  Jeannine is also the proud mother of triplets and has shared her experiences raising multiples with many families in the program.

Scott is a developmental specialist as well as the center coordinator at our Worcester program.  He holds a bachelors degree in education.  Scott has worked in our program for 11 years, initially as a classroom assistant and for the past 5 years as a developmental specialist.  Prior to coming to work at early intervention, Scott was a teacher in various classroom settings including with children with special education and behavioral needs.  Scott feels most at home in our classrooms where he leads 5 groups per week at our center, making every child and parent feel welcome.  The children love to come to the center for group with Scott.  Scott has recently taken on the role of center coordinator for our program and we look forward to exciting new programming under his direction!

Sheila holds masters degrees in Social Work and Education.  She has been a member of our team at the Worcester program for more than 20 years, 16 of these years as a team leader.  Before becoming a developmental therapist at our program, Sheila spent 20 years at the Department of Social Services (DSS, now known as DCF - Department of Children and Families).  Sheila's experience at DSS and Early Intervention make her a valuable resource for families and staff.  Sheila has considerable experience working with children with Down Syndrome and babies born prematurely.  She provides guidance and support to parents of babies and toddlers who are often facing significant challenges.  Sheila's kind, unassuming demeanor makes her approachable and accessible for parents who may have questions about what to expect when raising a baby with special needs. We are fortunate to have such a skilled clinician among us!
