A drop-off Community Playgroup held at Westfield Infant Toddler Services
on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10:00am-noon. These
groups are open to residents of any of the communities that are served
by Westfield Infant Toddler Services. They include children
from the community as well as children receiving services from Westfield
Infant Toddler Services. The groups are for children aged 18-36 months.
Siblings, cousins or friends in this age range with typically developing
skills are welcome to join in as community peers when space is available.
These groups are semi-structured and include activities to promote
skills in all areas of development such as language, social skills,
sensory, gross and fine motor. These activities include art, snack
time, song time etc. There is a nominal fee, ($10.00 per child per
3 month session), to cover snack and art materials. Parents are not
required to attend with their child.
Held at Westfield Infant Toddler Services on Thursdays from 10:00
AM-noon and at the Alliance Church Westfield on Mondays from 9:30-11:30
AM. This playgroup offers the same fun and learning experiences as
our Little Adventurer's Club. Parents come with their children and
then separate to attend the Coffee Club while their children remain
in the supervised Kids Club Playgroup. The Coffee Club allows parents
a place to take a break with other adults and share stories, experiences
and lend support to each other. There is a nominal fee, ($10 per child
per 3 month session), to cover snack and art materials.
Held at the Westfield Headstart on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM-noon
or 1:00-2:30 PM or Thursdays from 10:00 AM-noon. This playgroup
includes free play, art, snack time, gross and fine motor activities
plus story time and songs. When the weather is good children have
outdoor playtime in a fenced in playground. Parents are not required
to attend with their child.
Held at Westfield Infant Toddler Services on Fridays from 1:00-2:30
PM. Children participate in a variety of activities that involve
music and movement, such as songs, motor games, and art projects.
There is a nominal fee, ($10 per child per 3 month session), to
cover art materials.
These two groups are held at Kids Place in Agawam on Monday and
Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 AM. These are children's
groups similar in format and activities to our Play
Pak playgroups.Outdoor
activities are offered in good weather in a fenced-in play yard.
Wigwams
is an excellent option for children who attend child care at Kids
Place. The groups are also open to other toddlers who live
in the West Springfield/ Agawam area. Staff from Kids Place
occasionally joins the groups, along with WITS teachers and aides.
There is a $10 per 3 month session snack and activities fee.
This group is composed of parents with children who are challenged
by autism.The group meets Thursday evenings, 5:30-7:30 PM, to share
a meal while discussing treatment methods and approaches to improve
the well-being of their children with autism. Although the focus
of the group is on young children and their families who live with
autism, parents of older children with autism are also welcome to
attend.The group is facilitated
by both a parent leader and a WITS staff person.Members of the group also plan and participate in seasonal
outings and play dates which include the entire family.
WestfieldAllianceChurch
Playgroup:
This group is held every Friday at the AllianceChurch in Westfield
from 9:30-11:30 AM.Parents and children participate together.Free play and organized group activities such as art, music
and motor games, as well as a healthy snack, are offered. Activities
are geared for children who are 15-36 months old.There is a $10 per 3 month session snack and activities fee.
